From 29 September to 3 October 2026, the Argentine Society of Cardiology (SAC) ran the SONQO CALCHAQUI Program, a five-day initiative to bring echocardiographic screening to low-income Calchaquí indigenous communities in the north of Argentina. Us2.ai was proud to support the program by providing AI-powered analysis for the echocardiographic studies performed.

About the program

Access to echocardiography is often limited in remote and underserved communities. SONQO CALCHAQUI addressed this directly, with ultrasound systems provided by several medical equipment companies and a team that combined experienced cardiologists with less experienced technicians. Studies acquired on devices from different manufacturers were exported in DICOM format and analysed with Us2.ai, a vendor-neutral platform that produces standardised measurements regardless of the system or operator.

Why it matters

Programs like this show how automated analysis can extend echocardiography beyond hospital echo labs. Consistent, reproducible measurements from studies acquired in the field, by teams with varied experience, support screening where specialist resources are scarce.

In their words

Thanks to the use of the Us2.ai tool of artificial intelligence, we were able to accelerate the times (for analysis) a lot and it will standardize the results to provide better quality for the patients!

Us2.ai thanks the Argentine Society of Cardiology, the program organisers and the participating teams for the opportunity to take part, and the communities of the Calchaquí region for their participation.
