AI POCUS – Ultrasound AI Point of Care for Heart Failure

Heart failure will be very prevalent in the future where 1 in 10 people above the age of 65 will be diagnosed with heart failure.  However, access to professionally perform echocardiograms can have wait times of 4 to 6 months which delays treatment of heart failure.  Perhaps we could train novices with no prior sonography knowledge to perform echos the same way we now do for electrocardiograms (ECG)?  In this we used handheld echo devices with AI guidance and automated analysis by Us2.ai.

The primary endpoint of the study was determining the accuracy of this AI pathway in determining abnormal scans of LVEF less than 50% compared to the clinical guidelines recommended NT-proBNP.
